Leocadio Vizcarrondo

Leocadio Vizcarrondo Delgado (born December 9, 1906 in Juncos , † November 15, 1993 in Bayamón ) was a Puerto Rican musician, arranger and composer .

Vizcarrondo grew up in San Juan and founded the Trío Puerto Rico with Pompillo Rodríguez (Pompo) and Guillermo Ayala (Piliche) in the early 1930s , which was supplemented by the singers Isabelo Rivera , Felix Castrillón and Ernestico . He later expanded it to include the musicians Juanchín Ramírez , Emilio Fuentes , Fernando Pizarro and Nicolás Fuentes to the Septeto Puerto Rico . It was the first Puerto Rican group to get a contract with RCA Victor , where they released albums for seven consecutive years.

In 1936 Vizcarrondo separated from the Septeto Puerto Rico and became, together with Isabelo Rivera, a member of Ladislao Martínez '(Ladí) Conjunto Ladí . When Martínez went to New York, he took over the group that was now called Industria Navidad and finally - cast with Arturo Avilés (Cuatro), Manuel Velázquez (bass guitar and drums), Isabelo Rivera and himself as the singer - as Leocadio Vizcarrondo y su Conjunto occurred.
