Lety is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 20 kilometers southeast of Příbram and belongs to the Okres Písek .

geography

Lety is located in the Central Bohemian hill country on the Zalužanský potok between the valleys of the Skalice and Moldau with the Orlík dam . To the east rise the Holý vrch (540 m) and the Krahulík (520 m), northwest of the Háj (515 m).

Neighboring towns are Zalužany in the north, Šerkov in the northeast, Kožlí and Orlík nad Vltavou in the east, Probulov and Králova Lhota in the southeast, Krsice and Nový Dvůr in the south, Nerestce in the southwest, Horosedly and Mirovice in the west and Boješice and Touškov in the northwest.

history

The settlement of the village took place around 1000. The first documentary mention comes from the year 1312. Lety belonged to the royal estates and was the seat of a royal bailiff. After the replacement of patrimonial Lety became an independent municipality in 1850.

During the time of the Reich Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia between 1940 and 1945, at the foot of the Krahulík, east of Lety, there was the National Socialist Lety concentration camp for residents of the "Protectorate" categorized as "Asocial", including numerous Roma .
