Levin Gideon Friedrich von Apenburg

Levin Gideon Friedrich von Apenburg ( February 27, 1724 - November 4, 1794 ) was a Prussian cavalry officer , most recently in the rank of major general .

Life

The second son of Ernst Friedrich von Apenburg, heir to Groß Mokratz , and Eva Eleonora von Hanow from the Lasbeck family joined the Ansbach-Bayreuth Regiment in 1738 as a flagjunker . In 1741 he took part in the battle of Mollwitz . In the same year he was promoted to ensign and in 1744 to lieutenant in the Rochow cuirassier regiment. He was wounded in the Battle of Hohenfriedberg in 1745, but was used again in the Battle of Thrush .

In 1753 he became a staff officer and in 1755 he got his own company. In 1756 he took part in the battle of Lobositz and in 1757 in the battles of Kolin , Roßbach and Leuthen . In March 1758 he was promoted to major . After the battle of Zorndorf he was awarded the order Pour le Mérite . In the same year he was involved in the battle of Hochkirch and was promoted to lieutenant colonel. In 1760 he was used in the battles near Liegnitz and Torgau . After Liegnitz he received a gift of 1000 thalers. The following year he was promoted to colonel . In 1762 he took part in the battle of Reichenbach and in 1763 became the regiment's commander.

In the same year he took over the Plettenberg Dragoon Regiment. On May 24, 1766 he was promoted to major general. After the major general von Röder died, he took over his cuirassier regiment in 1781. In 1784 he received the farewell he had requested for health reasons, combined with a salary of 2000 thalers.

Levin Gideon Friedrich von Apenburg was not married. With him the noble family von Apenburg died out in the male line.
