The Libyan border fence (also known as the Fascist Limes ) was an obstacle 271 km in length in Italian-occupied Libya. It ran along the border with British-controlled Egypt along the Wadi Jaghbub . The border fence was built by the Italians during the Second Italian-Senussi War (1923-1931) as a defense system against the insurgent Senussi population who were supplied from Egypt during their resistance against the Italian colonialists. From the Italian declaration of war on June 10, 1940 until the end of 1942, military clashes between Italian, British and German armed forces took place here.
