history
The newspaper first appeared on August 16, 1878 and was published by the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt press association . The initiator and first editor (until 1884) was the princely court chaplain Johann Fetz . Until 1918 the Volksblatt was a weekly newspaper, from 1919 it appeared twice, from 1927 three times, from 1962 four times, from 1978 five times a week. Since January 1985 it has been published daily (except Sunday).
The Oberland newspaper is considered to be conservative and associated with the Princely House. It is close to the Progressive Citizens' Party . Since September 2006 the Volksblatt has been published by the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt AG, which emerged from the former press association. In October 2006, the Vorarlberg media entrepreneur Eugen Russ ( Vorarlberger Medienhaus ) entered the publishing house with a minority stake. The majority of the shares are still in Liechtenstein ownership.
The Liechtensteiner Volksblatt finances itself through subscriptions and the sale of advertisements. It is published in German and deals with current topics mainly from the Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Austria region.
