Liederjan is a north German folk group .

The Irish folk song group Tramps & Hawkers oriented itself towards German folk songs at the beginning of the 1970s . In 1975 the group Liederjan emerged.

The group did not sing the well-known songs, but almost forgotten songs. Later, Liederjan wrote and composed his own songs. The trio sometimes uses very unusual plucked and string instruments and maintains the vocals.

In 1985 Liederjan was awarded the German Cabaret Prize and in 1991 the Garching Cabaret Mask Audience Award.

Apart from the occasional participation of various guest musicians in their record productions, Liederjan always formed a trio, which was composed of Anselm Noffke, Jörg Ermisch and Jochen Wiegandt when it was founded. While the first two formed the core of the business for more than 25 years, the “third man” was changed several times over the years. Rainer Prüss , Edzard Wagenaar, Wolfgang Rieck , Jürgen Leo, Klaus Irmscher and, until the end of 2015, Michael Lempelius played with Liederjan .

With the death of Anselm Noffke on December 14, 2003, the group lost one of its two remaining founders three years after its 25th stage anniversary. At his request and that of his teammates at the time, Liederjan continued. Anselm Noffke's place in the trio was taken by a woman for the first time in the history of the group, with Hanne Balzer, so that the joke that had previously emerged as "Germany's oldest boy group" lost its foundation.

It was with this composition that the Liederjan celebrated its 40th stage anniversary in October 2015 in Hamburg, according to its current self-designation, "Musical specialist for a long time". Philip Omlor , who comes from the younger songwriting scene, has been a member of Liederjan since the beginning of 2016 .
