Lionel Rogg

Lionel Rogg (born April 21, 1936 in Geneva ) is a Swiss organist , composer and university professor .

Education and biography

Rogg studied organ playing with Pierre Segond and piano with Nikita Magaloff at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève . He has given concerts around the world in particular with the works of Johann Sebastian Bach , whose entire organ works he recorded three times on phonograms. Rogg played a. a. also the complete organ works by Dietrich Buxtehude on record. He taught at the Geneva Conservatory until 2001 and is professor of artistic organ and improvisation at the Royal Academy of Music in London . In 1989 he was awarded a doctorate honoris causa by the University of Geneva .
