Lisa Resch (born October 4, 1908 in Garmisch ; † January 31, 1949 ) was a German ski racer .

Career

Resch came from the Upper Bavarian ski resort Garmisch. In the second half of the 1930s she was the dominant driver behind her teammate Christl Cranz and next to Käthe Grasegger in international competitions. Between 1934 and 1939 she won eight medals at the Alpine World Ski Championships, making her one of the most successful female ski racers of all time. In 1938 she became world champion in the downhill in Engelberg, Switzerland.

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1936 , which were held in her hometown, she was ranked 6th in the combined ranking. In the downhill section, which was included in the ranking, she had initially achieved second place, but the day after she fell back with an eighth place in the slalom.

In 1937 she entered the international Hahnenkamm race in Kitzbühel as the first German in the slalom and combined races . At the SDS races in Grindelwald in 1938 she was second in slalom and third in combination and in 1939 third in slalom.

On January 31, 1949, at the age of 40, she died of a heart attack .
