whole day

The free study times

Study times for secondary school students take place three days a week in the afternoon. During the learning times there are various offers for individual learning: In the specialist learning counseling, learning tasks can be worked on with the support of a specialist teacher (classic homework is no longer available in the bound full day). In the Silentium, the learning tasks are processed alone in quiet work. In addition, voluntary modules are offered during the learning period. From grade 7 onwards, students can decide for themselves which offer they want to take part in.

Afternoon modules

As part of the full day, the Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium offers a wide range of extra-curricular modules such as B. the robot group, tennis or the 10-finger typing course at the Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium. At the beginning of each semester, students can choose from over 30 offers.

Extra-curricular

Annual work

In grade 8, each student has to write an annual paper of approx. 12 pages on a topic of their choice. This serves to prepare for the later technical work in level Q1. In addition, every student has to look for a supervisor who gives them tips when preparing the annual paper and who also grades them at the end.

Social and industrial internship

In grade 9, every student has the obligation to complete an internship. From the 2020/21 school year this should be carried out as a social internship in a social enterprise. For two weeks, the students get to know the world of work at a self-chosen internship. The experiences and impressions are recorded in an internship report, which is marked at the end by an assigned supervisor. In the upper level, the students do another two-week internship. This time you can choose the place from all business sectors.

PSE days

So-called PSE days are held every year at all levels. Instead of normal lessons, the students learn different methods over three days. Topics are, for example, "How do I prepare a lecture correctly?" Or "How can I better remember vocabulary?".

One world circle

The One World Circle of the LMG runs a one world shop and the cafeteria, the one world café. At the One World Shop, students can purchase exercise books made from environmental protection paper or other fairly traded products, while in the One World Café special attention is paid to healthy eating. The employees work on a voluntary basis. The proceeds will benefit various projects in Tanzania and Nicaragua, for example a leprosy station and various schools are supported.

building

The Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium occupied two buildings for a long time. The main building has four wings in which the staff room, the cafeteria, two sports halls and teaching rooms for all subjects are located. The former adjoining building at the Realschule am Stadtpark is currently occupied by the secondary school in Hederichsfeld.

Wing 1, in which the teachers' room and science rooms are, was renovated in 2008. The renovation work in wing 3 began two years later, and the cafeteria is also affected; it was temporarily housed in the container in the 2010/11 school year, but has been modernized and enlarged since the 2011/12 school year after the renovation work was completed Open to students.
