List of entries for the best foreign language film for the 1960 Academy Awards

The following 13 films, all from different countries, were nominations in the Best Foreign Language Film category for the 1960 Academy Awards . The highlighted titles were the five ultimately nominated films, which come from Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands and West Germany. The Oscar went to Orfeu Negro , a Portuguese-language drama that was shot in Brazil by a French director. The film represented France at the award ceremony.

The Netherlands, Pakistan, and the Chinese-speaking British colonies of Hong Kong and Singapore made proposals for this category for the first time.
