List of bridges in Radeberg
The list of bridges in Radeberg contains all public bridge structures in the Saxon city of Radeberg and its districts Großerkmannsdorf , Liegau-Augustusbad and Ullersdorf .
General
“All overpasses of a traffic route over another traffic route, over a body of water or over lower lying terrain are considered bridges if their clear width between the abutments is 2.00 meters or more. [...] "
Bridges were important to Radeberg as early as the Middle Ages. The town's market system had been developing since the 14th century. The trade in salt, fruit and vegetables as well as the Radeberg brewing industry grew and made trade with cities like Dresden more important. In addition, regular annual fairs were held, which steadily increased Radeberg's status in the surrounding area and required appropriate adjustments to the route and road network. This made it increasingly necessary to cross rivers like the Schwarze and the Große Röder , and so some wooden bridges were built.
In the course of the establishment of the Saxon-Silesian Railway Company and the establishment of the Görlitz – Dresden railway line in 1845/46, several railway bridges were built in Radeberg. In the 1990s and 2000s, some of the Radeberg bridges were completely renovated, others were demolished and replaced by new structures.
The construction of the Großerkmannsdorf / Radeberg bypass on the state road 177 from 2004 to 2008 required the construction of nine new road bridges, both to connect to existing traffic routes and to cross valleys, roads and railroad tracks. The bridges over the valley of the Schwarzen Röder and over the Hüttertal are the longest bridges in the city at 165 meters (Schwarze Röder) and 140 meters (Hüttertal).
There are 56 public bridge structures in the entire urban area, 43 of them in the core town of Radeberg, 9 in the Großerkmannsdorf district, 3 in the Liegau-Augustusbad district and 1 in the Ullersdorf district.

Remarks
- ↑ The Goldbach flows through a large part of the town center of Großerkmannsdorf (also piped in places), which means that there are still some smaller crossings for paths and property accesses, which are not included in this list due to their too small size.
- ↑ As of 2017.
- ↑ Is listed in the list of cultural monuments as a tunnel under the railway embankment (location: Am Heiderand ).
- ↑ The legend reports that the Radeberg bailiff Ernst Ludwig Langbein, the father of the poet August Friedrich Ernst Langbein , wanted to travel from Radeberg to Arnsdorf in a horse-drawn carriage with three other companions in 1811. At that time the tanners were located in the area of the bridge and washed their leather there. As the carriage crossed the bridge, the horses shied away from the pungent smell and jumped over the railing. They fell with their carriage from the five-meter high bridge into the Große Röder. It was considered a miracle that only the coachman and a horse were slightly injured and the coach was almost undamaged. The city's tanners were ordered after the incident to keep a reasonable distance from bridges when washing their leather in the river.
- ↑ The bridge is located in the Arnsdorf district , but is listed here for the sake of completeness.
- ↑ The bridge is located on the Radeberg / Arnsdorf boundary.
- ↑ The bridge is on the Radeberg / Dresden boundary.
