Around 1900 the school house was extended. The north wing was added around 1920, for which a gardener's house had been demolished before 1910; For many years it had the address Schloßstraße 4. With its completion in good structural adaptation to the school building, the school moved into a new building on the neighboring property, became the 28th elementary school and was given the address Wilhelmstraße 29b. From then on, the vacant corner house served as the seat of various municipal offices; it was referred to as a town house .
During the Nazi era , the town house housed the police and other offices as well as an air raid shelter. It was used for administrative units until the fall of the Berlin Wall . After the Senate's demolition plans became known, the indignant public succeeded in having the house listed . It has been offered for sale by the Liegenschaftsfonds since the 2010s. |

The building was sold to a private person who had committed to renovating the monument in an urban development contract, but did not keep it. In 2013, an application for demolition and redevelopment was therefore submitted to the Lichtenberg district office. The demolition permit was made dependent on the fact that a new building was based on the area and height of the coach houses. |
