List of Telemann's operas
The list of operas by Telemann includes the operas written by Georg Philipp Telemann .
General
Georg Philipp Telemann wrote his first opera at the age of twelve. In his autobiography he himself claims to have written "several and twenty" operas for the Leipzig Opera . The Leipzig operas were only performed during trade fairs. Telemann wrote the texts for many of his Leipzig operas himself, played the figured bass in the orchestra or sang operatic roles himself. In the years 1702–1705 he composed four operas for the court in Weißenfels. He also created operas for the court in Bayreuth, but most of them were written for the opera at Gänsemarkt , for which he also arranged for Georg Friedrich Handel's operas, among other things . Thus around 50 of these works should have been created in his creative life. Some of his operas or arias from operas, believed to be lost, have only been rediscovered in recent years. B. Pastorelle en Musique or Musical Shepherd Game , Germanicus and arias from Mario , Der laughing Democritus etc.
