Elizabeth Anne "Lizzy" Caplan (born June 30, 1982 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress . She gained greater fame in 2008 for her role in the monster film Cloverfield .

Life

Lizzy Caplan grew up in a Jewish family. She attended Alexander Hamilton High School in LA, where she took part in school productions. She began her television career in 1999 when she played the role of Sara Moll in the short-lived series Full Beside, Full in Life . She has made a number of guest appearances on other series and was also a guest on Sharon Osbourne's talk show. In 2001 she starred for the first time in the series Smallville (season 1, episode 4 and season 2, episode 11) with. She played the role of Tina Greer one more time in 2003. In 2004 she gained more attention in the role of Janis Ian in the movie Girls Club - be careful! where she starred alongside Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams .

She was also in the series Tru Calling - Schicksal reloaded! see, with Eliza Dushku in the lead role. From 2005 she played in series such as Related or The Class . However, both series were discontinued after a year. In 2008 she was one of the leading actors in the film Cloverfield . She also played supporting character Amy Burley in the first season of the HBO series True Blood . From 2009 to 2010 she played the female protagonist Casey Klein in the sitcom Party Down . Since 2013, she played Virginia Johnson alongside Michael Sheen in the Showtime series Masters of Sex , which earned her her first Emmy nomination in 2014 as the best leading actress in a drama series . The series ended in 2016.
