This design enabled better heat dissipation and thus a reduction in the dimensions and weight of the electric motors. In 1940, a branch in a former porcelain factory was opened in Passau in the Innstadt district , which was given up again in the 1990s. Today the “Jesuitenschlößl” rehabilitation clinic, the “Am Jesuitenschlößl” hotel, shopping markets and residential buildings are located on the site.

In 1948, Loher developed the silicone insulation in collaboration with the Wacker plants, ready for series production. This opened up new areas of application for electrical machines in the temperature range from +500 ° C to −60 ° C. In 1961 the family business went to the third generation. Around 1980 Loher GmbH Elektromotorenwerke in Ruhstorf and Passau, its sister companies Waldkraiburg and Ludwigsburg and the Austrian and Swiss subsidiaries employed around 2000 people.

In 1986 the company was converted into a stock corporation . In 1991 A. Friedr. Flender AG , in 2001 the legal form was changed from an AG back to a GmbH . In 2001 the wind energy business unit was spun off into Winergy AG. From 2005 to 2012 Loher GmbH was a legally independent subsidiary of Siemens AG .
