Lothar Gassmann

Lothar Gassmann (born November 19, 1958 in Pforzheim ) is an evangelical publicist, theologian and songwriter.

Career

According to Gassmann, he became a Christian in 1976 . From 1977 to 1984 he studied Protestant theology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen ; There he received his doctorate in 1992 under Peter Beyerhaus with a thesis on the anthroposophical understanding of the Bible for Dr. theol. From 1991 to 1993 he was vicar in the Baden regional church , from 1993 to 1997 lecturer in Christian dogmatics and apologetics at the Free Theological Academy in Gießen and from 1998 to 2008 sect and ideology officer of the Working Group for Religious Issues (ARF, today AG Welt ). Gassmann is a preacher and evangelist of the Christian Congregation Service (CGD), which he founded in 2009 . Gassmann was a member of the strongly conservative Evangelical Emergency Community in Germany until 2005 . In 1998 there was a break with the EKD , since then he has been active as a free church with a fundamental Christian orientation.

Journalistic activity

He was editor of the magazines Erneuerung und Abwehr (2003 to 2005), Zeitjournal (2006 to 2008) and Der schmale Weg (since 2009). Gassmann worked as an editorial assistant for the magazine Aufblick and Outlook and is the author of over 100 books and numerous articles on spiritual, theological and time-critical topics. He is the founder and (co-) editor of the book and lexicon series Enlightenment , Small Handbook , The Current Series , Current Bible , Revelation .

Weltanschauung issues

Starting with his dissertation on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, Lothar Gassmann publishes mainly on ideological issues and takes an evangelical- biblical perspective.

Political position

Lothar Gassmann is not a member of any party, but has already positioned himself in party politics several times.

In 1980 he had actively supported the founding of the party The Greens without becoming a member of this party himself, but a few years later he distanced himself sharply from them.

In 2009 Gassmann was the top candidate of the Christian faithful party (PBC) for the European elections .

In March 2016, in the run-up to the then Baden-Württemberg state elections, he published an election recommendation in favor of the AfD , referring to its proximity to the AfD association Christians in the AfD . The former working group Christians in the AfD emerged from the Pforzheimer Kreis founded in the presence of Lothar Gassmann.

In his short biography, published by him, he argues that he [...] does not fit into any particular political camp - neither left nor right . At the same time, he is openly committed to conservative - biblical positions.
