Lothar fights

Lothar fights (* 23. February 1923 in Merseburg ) is a German zoologist and professor emeritus of the University of Greifswald , which particularly in the area of nematodes researched (nematodes).

Life

Lothar Kampf was born in 1923 as the son of a commercial employee and grew up in Leuna . After graduating from high school and briefly compulsory labor service, he did military service in World War II from 1941. After being wounded several times, he was discharged from the military in 1945 and found a job in the city administration of Leuna as the mayor's secretary. Kampf then studied biology , geography and geology at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg , graduated in 1950 with the state examination for higher education, became a scientific assistant at the Zoological Institute in 1951 and in 1953 with a thesis on investigations into cyst formation in Heterodera schachtii Schmidt is doing his doctorate. After the death of the then institute director Ludwig Freund (1878–1953), Kuchten took over his official business. He was assigned the acting management of the institute as a senior assistant, which he held until the appointment of Johannes Otto Hüsing (1912–1990) in 1956. During this time, the guide to the anatomy of vertebrates was created , which Kampf wrote together with Rolf Kittel (1919–1995) and Johannes Klapperstück (1920–1989) and which appeared in six editions from 1955 to 1993.

In 1958 he qualified as a professor and in the following year was appointed lecturer at the zoological institute of the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald. He became professor with a teaching assignment in 1960, full professor in 1963 and full professor of zoology in 1968. From 1975 until his retirement in 1988, he was head of the Zoological Institute and Museum at the University of Greifswald.

Lothar Kampf married the biologist Dora Schütze in 1951. The marriage produced a son.
