Louis De Vos

Louis De Vos (born March 26, 1929 in Hoboken , † May 1, 1964 in Montreal ) was a Belgian - Canadian cyclist .

In the 1940s, Louis De Vos was a successful amateur cyclist in his native Belgium. In 1947 he won a stage of the Tour of Belgium for amateurs.

At the end of the 1950s, De Vos emigrated to Canada and started cycling again after a ten-year break. In 1963 he was named the best cyclist in the province of Québec by the Union Cycliste Nationale .

On April 29, 1964, Louis De Vos fell while participating in the Montreal Six Days after colliding with another driver. He suffered a fractured skull and immediately fell into a coma . He died in the hospital two days later without regaining consciousness.
