Louis Hostin (1936)

Louis Hostin (born April 21, 1908 in Saint-Étienne , † June 29, 1998 in Boisseron ) was a French weightlifter .

Career

Louis Hostin started lifting weights when he was 17. His role models were the famous compatriots around Olympic champions Ernest Cadine and Charles Rigoulot . In 1927 he was the first French champion and in 1928 he won a medal at the Olympic Games. In 1932 and 1936 he became an Olympic champion. From 1928 to 1939 he was one of the world's best light heavyweight lifters. He was a model of consistency. Whenever it came down to it, he performed at his best. Only at the European Championships in Turin in 1934 did he "fail" with three failed attempts in two-armed pushing.

The French state honored Louis Hostin with a high medal in 1978.
