Albert Louis Georg Julius von Alvensleben (born May 3, 1803 at Schollene Castle near Rathenow , † February 8, 1884 in Berlin ) was a Prussian colonel and commander of the Emperor Alexander Grenadier Regiment .

Life

Louis was a son of Herr auf Schricke und Hundisburg Georg von Alvensleben (1767-1811) and his wife Wilhelmine Ulrike, née Countess von Wartensleben (1771-1839). His sister Friederike Sophia (1797-1880) was married to the infantry general Franz Karl von Werder .

Military career

After his education in the cadet corps , Alvensleben was transferred as a second lieutenant to the Emperor Alexander Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army on July 9, 1820 and was promoted to captain and chief of the 1st company until mid-March 1841 . In 1844 he was appointed leader of the second son of Grand Duke Georg von Mecklenburg-Strelitz . In 1846 Alvensleben became the military companion of Prince George of Prussia . During the March Revolution he took part in the street fighting in Berlin and in the campaign against Denmark that followed. On August 12, 1848 he was promoted to major as commander of the 2nd battalion in the 27th Landwehr Regiment and took part in the suppression of the Baden Revolution the following year . In March 1850 he came to Magdeburg as commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 2nd Guard Landwehr Battalion and on October 3, 1850 he was transferred to the Guard Reserve Infantry Landwehr Regiment. This was followed by a position as commander of the 1st battalion in the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot from January 31, 1852 . He was born on March 22, 1853 to lieutenant colonel and 31 December 1856 Colonel promoted. Under position à la suite of his regiment, Alvensleben was from April 4, 1857 to July 7, 1857 in command of Erfurt and the Petersberg Citadel . He was then appointed commander of the Emperor Alexander Grenadier Regiment, but due to illness, he was granted his departure on January 15, 1859 with the authorization to wear the regimental uniform.

He moved to Potsdam and died on February 8, 1884 in Berlin. He was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John .

family

Alvensleben married on July 10, 1850 Berlin Adelgunde, née Meyer (1813–1868). The daughter Katharina (1851-1892) emerged from the marriage and married Hans Pius von Arnim-Kröchlendorff (1849-1899) in 1874 , parents of Detlev von Arnim-Kröchlendorff .
