Luís Campos e Cunha

Luís Manuel Moreira Campos e Cunha (* 1954 ), mostly just Luís Campos e Cunha , is a Portuguese politician and economist .

Life

Luís Campos e Cunha was born in 1954 and graduated in 1977 with a degree in economics from the Lisbon Catholic University . As a Fulbright participant , he studied at Columbia University in New York between 1980 and 1985 , where he obtained his doctorate in international economics in 1985 . Since 1985 he has lectured regularly at the Faculty of Economics of the New University in Lisbon , at times also at the Catholic University. He has been habilitated since 1995 .

In 1996 and 2002 Campos e Cunha held the position of Vice-Chairman of the Portuguese National Bank ( Banco de Portugal ). He also represented the Portuguese state in the Committee on International Relations of the European Central Bank between 1998 and 2002 . After the victory of the Socialist Party in the Portuguese parliamentary elections in March 2005 , Prime Minister José Sócrates appointed him Minister of Finance and State. He resigned from this position after about four months for personal reasons, and was succeeded by the former President of the Securities and Exchange Commission Fernando Teixeira dos Santos .

Campos e Cunha is married and has three children.
