Luciano Re Cecconi (born December 1, 1948 in Nerviano , † January 18, 1977 in Rome ) was an Italian football player .

Career

Luciano Re Cecconi started his career at Pro Patria Calcio . From 1969 to 1972 he was under contract with the US Foggia .

In the summer of 1972, Re Cecconi moved to Lazio Rome , where he played until his death in 1977. For the biancocelesti he made 109 Serie A games and scored seven goals.

For the Italian national team , the blond man played two international matches in 1974. At the 1974 World Cup in Germany , the midfielder was in Ferruccio Valcareggi's squad for the Azzurri , but did not play a game.

Luciano Re Cecconi died when he and two friends walked into a jewelry store and jokingly shouted "This is a robbery", whereupon he was shot by the owner, who did not recognize him and had only recently been robbed twice. He left a wife and two sons.
