Ludwig Ernst von Voss (born July 31, 1734 near Philippsburg ; † December 11, 1811 in Sagan ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the 11th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

Friedrich Karl was the son of Christian Karl von Voss (* 1693; † October 15, 1763), colonel in the princely bodyguard on horseback in Saxe-Gotha , and his wife Magdalene Friederike, née Janus von Eberstedt. The later Prussian lieutenant general Karl Friedrich von Voss was his brother. He himself was born during the siege of the Philippsburg Fortress .

Military career

Voss went into Saxony-Gotha service in 1749 and came into the body regiment there on foot. There he was on 14 August 1752 Ensign and on March 8, 1756 Lieutenant . During the Seven Years' War he took his leave on February 25, 1757, changed to Prussian services and was and was employed in the Green Dragoon Regiment , which was part of a Freikorps under Kleist . With his regiment and three fusilier battalions Voss occupied on the orders of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. in June 1802 the city of Erfurt . After handing over command there to Lieutenant General Leopold Alexander von Wartensleben , Voss returned with his regiment to the garrison in Silesia at the end of August 1802 .
