Ludwig Friedrich I. von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt (born October 15, 1667 in Rudolstadt ; † June 24, 1718 ibid) was the ruling Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt , Count von Hohnstein, Lord of Rudolstadt, Blankenburg and Sondershausen from 1710 to 1718 . The prince belonged to the Schwarzburg family .

Life

Ludwig Friedrich was the son of Albert Anton von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife, the poet and pietist, Aemilie Juliane von Barby-Mühlingen .

He took over the publication of the 1710 renewed elevation of the line Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt to the imperial princehood. His father had accepted this in the same year, but not made it public. Ludwig Friedrich referred to himself as prince on April 15, 1711. Count Albert Anton entrusted his son with the business of government for years before his death. Admission to the Imperial Council of Dukes took place in 1754. At that time the principality had around 45,000 inhabitants. The imperial hall, which was added to the south of Schwarzburg Castle between 1713 and 1719 , was created in connection with the elevation to the imperial prince status. In the hall, Gegenkönig Günther XXI. von Schwarzburg-Blankenburg and rulers of the Holy Roman Empire who did not belong to the family .

The Hereditary Count, accompanied by Hofmeister Johann von Asseburg, was sent on an educational trip between May 1687 and October 1688. Ludwig Friedrich was received by Louis XIV at Versailles Palace . In addition, the Hereditary Count was able to visit other important European rulers such as Emperor Leopold I in Vienna . The meeting with Duke Friedrich I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg in Paris , with the father of his future wife Anna Sophia, deserves a special mention . The marriage took place later on October 15, 1691 at Schloss Friedenstein in Gotha . The marriage resulted in 13 children, including 2 later regents.

The prince redesigned the country administratively. The administrative structure of absolutism was implemented. Georg Ulrich von Beulwitz became the chief official in the principality. Ludwig Friedrich toyed with the idea of moving the residence to Schwarzburg based on the French model of the Sun King . But financial restrictions made this project impossible.

Ludwig Friedrich passed away on June 24, 1718. Friedrich Anton became the new prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt.
