Internet
Hasler sees the Internet as a “new digital realm of amateurs” and defends the rights of laypeople in this medium against the presumption of experts. Historically, lay movements have repeatedly occurred; The Internet can be understood as a technical re-embodiment of the "wisdom in the street" that has been claimed at different times. It is a «machine for the redistribution of power» - away from the experts and towards «resourceful laypeople». «Elites live from knowing or being able to do something that the crowd doesn't know and can't - even better something that amazes the crowd, something secret, shrouded in mystery, sacred. The defense against new media technologies arises from concerns about peace and order - and the elite's fear of losing control of society. "
