Ludwig Nüdling (born February 26, 1874 in Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe) , † July 4, 1947 in Motzlar ) was a Catholic priest in the diocese of Fulda who devoted himself to local poetry.

Live and act

Nüdling, who was ordained a priest in 1897, was one of the editors of the first communion pamphlet "Communion Bell" . In Aufenau he worked as a pastor between 1907 and 1919. During this time he wrote a number of poems and eucharistic texts that were published all over Germany. One of these is the play The Patroness of Münnerstadt , a legend from the Thirty Years' War . During the Aufenau period, Nüdling had good contact with the chaplain and later pastor of Bad Orb , Alfons Maria Lins . Lins had Nüdling's The Sacrifice of Abraham staged in Bad Orb and performed several times.

After the First World War he was pastor in Kleinsassen . From 1938 until his death in 1947 he lived in the Roßbergklause am Oberrothhof , where he founded the pilgrimage site Marienlinden in 1938 .

memories

Pastor i. R. Monsignor Franz Koska from Aufenau built up the collection of his works and memorabilia over the years and thus founded the Nüdling Museum, which is housed in the old rectory of the Catholic community next to the church.

One street is named after him in Poppenhausen and Petersberg . There is also a Nüdlingstraße in the Aufenau district of Wächtersbach , one of his places of work.
