Luise of Mecklenburg-Schwerin
Luise, Duchess of Mecklenburg - [Schwerin], also Louise , complete Luise Marie Helene (born May 17, 1824 in Ludwigslust , † March 9, 1859 in Venice ) was a member of the grand ducal house of Mecklenburg (-Schwerin) and was married to Princess Windisch -Graetz .
Life
Luise was the second child and first daughter of Grand Duke Paul Friedrich and his wife Alexandrine of Prussia (1803-1892) . It was named after her grandmother, Queen Luise .
On October 20, 1849 she married Prince Hugo Alfred Adolf Philipp Windisch-Graetz (* May 26, 1823 - November 26, 1904), who in 1867 succeeded his father Veriand as prince and head of the younger line of the Windisch-Graetz family. The couple had four children:
- Alexandrine Marie (born August 29, 1850 - † July 12, 1933)
- Olga Marie Friederike (March 17, 1853 - December 27, 1934); ⚭ Count Andrea Mocenigo , widowed June 26, 1878
- Hugo Veriand Alfred Alexander Wilhelm (born November 17, 1854; † May 15, 1920); ⚭ May 16, 1885 with Christiane Princess von Auersperg (* February 26, 1866; † July 12, 1962)
- Marie Gabriele Ernestine Alexandra (December 11, 1856 - July 9, 1929); ⚭ 1881 with Duke Paul Friedrich of Mecklenburg
Luise died after a brief illness on March 9, 1859 in Venice. She was buried on March 21 with a memorial service held by Ludwig Theodor Elze , the Protestant pastor from Ljubljana , at Wagensberg Castle (in Slovenian: Bogenšperk , near Litija ).
After her death, her husband married Princess Mathilde Radziwill (* October 16, 1836 - January 5, 1918), with whom he had three other children, on October 9, 1867 .
