Lukas Siebenkotten

Lukas Siebenkotten (born September 22, 1957 in Hamm ) is a German lawyer . Since September 1, 2008, he has been director of the German Tenants' Association (DMB). On June 14, 2019, he was elected President of the Association. From 1995 to 1999 he was mayor of the city of Willich .

Life

Siebenkotten is a member of the SPD . He studied law in Cologne. He then worked for three years as a personal advisor to the district director in Recklinghausen , before moving to the city of Willich as an alderman in 1990 . In 1995 he was elected the first full-time mayor by the city council with 23 to 22 votes. In the local elections on September 12, 1999, he was defeated in the direct election with 47.24% of the vote against his challenger Josef Heyes ( CDU ).

From 2000 he worked as a lawyer in Krefeld . From 2004 to 2009 Siebenkotten was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Viersener district assembly. From 2000 to 2008 he was chairman of the German Red Cross in the Viersen district.

In addition to his work for the German Tenants' Association, he is managing director of the DMB publishing house and editor-in-chief of the MieterZeitung. In this respect, he is responsible for the content of the information brochures and the tenant lexicon. He is also a board member of DMB Rechtsschutz-Versicherung. Siebenkotten is a member of the administrative board of the Federation of German Consumer Organizations (vzbv) and has been its chairman since November 2018. At the same time he is chairman of the board of trustees of Stiftung Warentest .

Lukas Siebenkotten is married and has four children. He lives with his family in Anrath , a district of the city of Willich.
