Extraction and presentation
Lutetium (III) fluoride can be obtained by reacting lutetium (III) oxide with hydrogen fluoride .
Alternatively, it can also be produced by reacting hydrofluoric acid with lutetium (III) chloride .

Lutetium (III) fluoride is an odorless white solid that is insoluble in water. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Pnma (space group no. 62) .
use
Lutetium fluoride is z. E.g. as mixed crystal LiLu 1-x Nd x F 4 used together with LiF and NdF 3 for scintillation counters .
