Mäbendorf is a district of the independent city of Suhl in Thuringia with around 600 inhabitants .
Geographical location
Mäbendorf is located in the southern Thuringian Forest west of Suhl, on the road to Meiningen in the valley of the Hasel.
history
Mäbendorf was first mentioned in a document from the Rohr monastery in 1206 . The current church was built in 1721. The place belonged to the county of Henneberg and was in the Saxon office of Kühndorf until 1815 . From 1816 to 1944 Mäbendorf was part of the Erfurt administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony .
Mäbendorf was hit by the persecution of witches in 1611 . Dorothea Schultheiß got involved in a witch trial and was burned.
On April 1, 1979 it was incorporated into Suhl.
