background

The film is based on the true life story of Florence Foster Jenkins . The rich American heiress and widow was generally enthusiastic about music and especially convinced of her great voice. At the beginning of the 20th century she performed various arias and songs in exquisite costumes and in front of a select audience, once even in the sold-out Carnegie Hall in New York. Her vocal appearances were considered insider tips and her fans forgave her if she didn't hit the tone or rhythm of the selected compositions.
