Madonna and Child (La Rivière, Gironde)

The sculpture Madonna and Child in the Notre-Dame church in La Rivière , a French commune in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created in the 15th century. In 1908, the Gothic sculpture was added to the list of listed objects ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .

The sculpture made of alabaster and stone is 90 cm high and painted. The baby Jesus sits on Mary's left arm and turns his face towards the viewer. Mary holds a lily in her right hand and wears a crown on her head, like the child.
