Magdalene Kreßner

Magdalene "Ebbi" Kreßner (born October 3, 1899 in Schweizerthal near Chemnitz , † May 18, 1975 in Radebeul ) was a German sculptor .

Magdalene Kreßner studied from 1921 to 1927 at the Art Academy Berlin-Charlottenburg with Wilhelm Gerstel , then until 1930 at the Art Academy Dresden as a master student of Karl Albiker .

She worked as a freelancer in Dresden until 1945, and her studio and early works were destroyed in the air raids on Dresden on February 13, 1945. She moved to Radebeul on Eduard-Bilz-Str. 42 ( Oberlößnitz ) into a residential studio.

Kreßner was mainly active in the field of building-related art , many works have mythological or biblical themes. In 1955/1956 she created the oak crucifixion group for the Radebeul-Ost cemetery . Further works are the sculpture "Three Generations" (owned by the State Art Collections), "Dancer Salkowski", but also illustrations for Thomas Mann's "Joseph and His Brothers".

Magdalene Kreßner was buried in the Burgstädt cemetery.
