Maike Schirmer (born May 23, 1990 in Kaltenkirchen , Germany ) is a German handball player .

Career

Schirmer started playing handball at TuS Hartenholm . After the left-hander then played for SG Kisdorf / Leezen, she moved to VfL Bad Schwartau . Here she threw her goals for the A-youth and the first women's team, both of which played in the regional league . After three years in Bad Schwartau, the right wing player signed a contract with Bundesliga club VfL Oldenburg . Schirmer won the DHB Cup with VfL in 2009 . In the following season, she reached the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup with Oldenburg , which, however, was lost to KIF Kolding . In 2012 she won the DHB Cup again with VfL. From summer 2014 she worked for several months in Bogotá , Colombia . In October 2014, Schirmer returned to the Oldenburg squad. From the 2016/17 season she ran for Buxtehuder SV . With the BSV she won the DHB Cup in 2017 . In the summer of 2020, Schirmer moved to the French first division team Toulon Saint-Cyr Var Handball .

Maike Schirmer has so far completed six international matches for the German national junior team. Schirmer was previously on the field 35 times for the German national youth team.

On June 3, 2012 Schirmer made her debut in the German national team . So far she has played 14 games in which she scored 22 goals.
