Mainz Carnival Museum
The Mainz Carnival Museum shows the history of the Mainz Carnival since 1837 on approximately 350 m² .
Among other things, medals , fool's caps , sceptres , guard uniforms and photos are exhibited . There are a large number of video documents .
The museum is located in the renovated Proviant-Magazin and opened in June 2004. Friedrich Schütz, former director of the Mainz City Archives, was the first director of the Carnival Museum. The current director of the museum is Beate Popp.
Attached to it is the Mainz Carnival Archive , which was founded in 1972 on the initiative of the late Mainz honorary citizen Karl Delorme and which contains over 27,000 exhibits. The current head of the Mainz Carnival Archives is Michael Kläger.
