Manfred Daringer (born July 19, 1942 in Altheim ; † November 25, 2009 ) was an Austrian sculptor .

Live and act

Daringer comes from a family of artists. His great uncle Engelbert Daringer was an important church painter , his father Otto Daringer a wood sculptor and his uncle Franz Daringer a renowned church painter.

After attending the Federal College in Hallein from 1964 to 1968, he studied sculpture at the Linz Art School from 1968 to 1970 . From 1970 to 1975 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the master class of Fritz Wotruba and graduated with a diploma. From 1970 he started exhibiting and since 1977 he was a member of the Upper Austrian Art Association and the Innviertler Künstlergilde .

Daringer is considered one of the most distinguished sculptors in the country and worked with wood and stone in various forms. He had bronze sculptures made from many of his plaster and terracotta models. Daringer's works are closely linked to the market town of Aspach and can be found there in several public places.

Awards

  • In 1975 he received the Wotruba Prize .
  • The artist bequeathed his entire estate to the community of Aspach, which is why activities to present his artistic work were set up after a private foundation was established. A tour of the places where he worked was supplemented by the Daringer Art Museum in the Stiblersaal in Aspach, where Manfred Daringer's works can be viewed permanently.
