Manfred Mautner Markhof junior

Manfred Mautner Markhof junior (born February 6, 1927 in Vienna ; † January 7, 2008 there ) was like his father Manfred Mautner Markhof senior an Austrian industrialist and politician from the Mautner Markhof family .

Life

After attending the Schottengymnasium in Vienna , he studied at the University of World Trade and the University of Vienna , as well as at Bowdoin College in Brunswick (Maine) in the USA . In 1969 he was honored with an honorary doctorate from the University of Redlands .

In 1949 he joined the Schwechat brewery , joined the board in 1957 and became its chairman in 1972. After Brau AG took over the Schwechater brewery in 1978, he became its deputy chairman.

During his time at the Schwechater Brewery, the company became the first shirt sponsor of FK Austria Wien in 1967 and thus the first shirt sponsor in the Austrian soccer league . As Austria President until 1971, Mautner Markhof represented the corresponding link between the club and the company.

Politically, he was since 1958 in Wirtschaftsbund active - as well as in the Chamber of Commerce (Vice President). From 1980 to 1989 he was also President of the Vienna Regional Group in the Federation of Austrian Industries . From 1983 to 1999 he also held a seat in the Federal Council for the ÖVP .

In 1963 he became the first president of the newly founded WWF Austria .

Manfred Mautner Markhof (II) had been with Margherita Mautner Markhof , born in 1951 . Countess Cassis-Faraone (furniture manufacturer in Udine and board member of an insurance company), married. They had 4 children, including Manfred Leo Mautner Markhof (III) and Theodor Mautner Markhof .

Georg Mautner Markhof , former "clan boss" of the family business after Manfred sen. (I), was to Manfred jun. (II) 2nd cousin. Georg Mautner Markhof handed over to his son Marcus Mautner Markhof (also: Markus) in 1996 , who in 2002 handled the sale of the Mautner Markhof Feinkost mustard and vinegar empire from Mautner Markhof AG to Develey Senf & Feinkost . In 2004 Manfred Leo (III) took over the business of the remaining company and the realignment. The family said goodbye to the beer business with the sale of the Brau Union to Heineken .

2005 Foundation of Mautner Markhof Industriebeteiligungs GmbH (MMIB), in which Manfred (II) holds 40% and his sons Manfred Leo (III) and Theodor each hold 30%. Also in 2005, Mautner Markhof AG (new) and its subsidiary MATMAR SE founded .

Manfred Mautner Markhof junior was buried in the family crypt at Vienna's central cemetery.
