The sculpture Man and Woman in Bremen - Center in the Bremen ramparts near the Herdentor is included in the list of monuments and statues of the city of Bremen .
The sculpture from 1992 made of cast iron on a concrete base comes from the sculptor Christa Baumgärtel . According to the cultural authority, the artist reduced and abstracted the figures “in 'man and woman' to their basic form so that they become universal symbols for both sexes. The figures also look like archaic symbols because of the iron material ”. The sculptures were initially on the town hall square near the town hall Hemelingen in the Hemelingen district . During the Moving the City campaign in 2003, the figures were transferred to the ramparts.
From Baumgärtel (* 1947) in Bremen some of the a. a bronze bust of Wilhelm Kaisen in front of the Borgfeld local office (1985), the memorial for Mudder Cordes in Bonehauerstrasse (1987), the Vegesack whale pine (1980 or 1987), the Countess Emma memorial (2009) in Burglesum and the Kaisen -Monument (2012) in the chestnut grove Am Wall / Herdentor .
