Manuel Durão

Manuel Durão [ mɐˈnu̯ɛl duˈɾɐ̃u̯ ] (* 1987 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese composer and conductor .

Life

Durão studied composition with Reinhard Pfundt at the Musikhochschule Leipzig and conducting with Barbara Rucha as well as composition at the Musikhochschule in Lisbon. He attended master classes in conducting with Jean-Sébastien Béreau .

He was u. a. at the MDR composition competition Wagner 2013 as well as the MDR composition award 2011 and the sponsorship award of the Saxon Music Association 2013. He was also a scholarship holder of the Deutsche Bank Foundation , the DAAD and the Gulbenkian Foundation . His works were u. a. at the Leipzig Opera , at the Hamburg State Opera and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and in the Elbe Philharmonic listed.

From 2013 to 2019 Durão taught composition, ear training and instrument studies at the Leipzig University of Music.
