Maputsoe ( mɑ'putswɛ ), also Maputsoa, ​​is a city in western Lesotho on the east bank of the Caledon River ( Sesotho : Mohokare ). In 2016 the city had 55,541 inhabitants, making it the second largest city in the country. Maputsoe belongs to the Leribe district . As a border town, Maputsoe is located near the South African city ​​of Ficksburg .

The city is 1621 meters above sea level.

Maputsoe is the second most important industrial center of Lesotho after the capital Maseru . At the same time, it is the largest place that is not the district capital.
