Marc Schaefer (organist)

Marc Schaefer (* 1934 in Alsace ) is a French organist.

He studied church music and theology in Strasbourg , Paris and Princeton / USA . In 1962 he was appointed professor of organ at the Conservatoire National de Région de Strasbourg, and a year later he was appointed organist of the organ in Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune in Strasbourg, which was made by Johann Andreas Silbermann . As an organ expert he works for the diocese of Strasbourg , the Evangelical Church of Alsace-Lorraine and the State Monument Office in Paris. Besides France, he gave organ concerts in western and northern European countries, in Germany and in the USA.

As a Buxtehude expert he presented himself on a record recorded in the monastery church in Muri ( Switzerland ), as an organ building expert with his doctoral thesis on the Alsatian Silbermann family, approved in 1984 .
