Marc Weber (born July 5, 1973 in Biel / Bienne ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who played for the EHC Biel , SC Rapperswil-Jona and SC Bern in the National League A during his active career .

Career

Marc Weber began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth of EHC Biel , for whose professional team he made his debut in the National League A in the 1990/91 season . In the course of the following season the attacker established himself in the NLA squad of the Zealanders and scored a total of 16 points in 36 qualifying matches . In the early phase of the 1994/95 season , EHC Biel was dismissed without notice; Marc Weber is said to have claimed that it would be better for the club, given the financial situation, to relegate to the National League B. Then the league competitor SC Rapperswil-Jona took him under contract, where he re-established himself as a regular after some initial difficulties. The 1996/97 season was the statistically most successful year in Weber's career with 37 points recorded in the qualification. For the 1998/99 season , he was involved with SC Bern .

The left-handed shooter achieved the greatest success of his career in the 2003/04 season when he won the Swiss championship with the Stadtberner Club . Weber was instrumental in this triumph, as the Bieler scored two goals for the city of Bern in the final against HC Lugano on April 10, 2004 in the Resega . First, Weber caught the Lugano goalie Ronnie Rüeger in the second third with a shot from behind the baseline to equalize 2-2. In overtime, he then used a pass from Dominic Meier to make it 4: 3 for SC Bern. After winning the championship with SC Bern Weber left the club and completed two more seasons in the dress of SC Rapperswil-Jona before the offensive player ended his career.

International

For Switzerland , Weber took part in the U18 B-Junior European Championship in 1991 and the Junior World Championship in 1992 . While the U18 B-Junior European Championship in 1991 was promoted to the A group, a year later the Swiss selection at the Junior World Championship in 1992 saw a relegation to the second highest performance class. Weber recorded a total of nine points in twelve games at both tournaments.
