Margriet de Moor
Margriet de Moor (* 21st November 1941 in Noordwijk as Margaretha Maria Antonetta Neefjes ) is a Dutch writer .
Life
Margriet de Moor is one of ten children of a teacher couple. Her mother-in-law was the writer Anna Margaritha Annie de Moor-Ringnalda. She first studied piano and singing at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague . In her second degree, she studied art history and archeology in Amsterdam , which she financed with piano lessons.
In 1984 she and her husband opened a salon for artists in 's-Graveland near Hilversum . For the salon she made a series of film and video portraits of the exhibiting artists. After the subsidies for the film projects were suspended, she started writing. Her debut work was the short story volume back view , published in 1988 , which received good reviews and was awarded the Golden Dog-Ear as the best-selling literary debut . For her first novel First gray then white then blue (1991) she received the AKO Literatuurprijs . This novel became a book for the city of Cologne and the surrounding area in 2016 .
Margriet de Moor was married to the sculptor Heppe de Moor (1938–1992), and the marriage resulted in two daughters. De Moor is fluent in German. Her daughter Marente de Moor (* 1972) is a Slavist , newspaper columnist and made her debut in 2010 with a novel.
The writer now lives and works in Amsterdam.
