Maria Luís Albuquerque

Maria Luís Albuquerque (born September 16, 1967 in Braga ) is a Portuguese economist and was Portugal's Minister of Finance from July 2013 to 2015. Maria Luís Albuquerque studied at the University of Lusíada until 1991 and obtained a Masters in Monetary Economics and Public Finance at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão of the Technical University of Lisbon in 1997.

She began her professional career as a senior civil servant in the Portuguese Ministry of Finance between 1996 and 1999, worked in the Office of Studies and Economic Forecasts between 1999 and 2001 and was advisor to the Secretary of State for Finance in 2001. From 2001 to 2007 she was director of the State Finance Department Railway company Refer and ran the Center for Issues , Markets and Management at the Instituto de Gestão da Tesouraria e do Crédito Público between 2007 and 2011. Between 2011 and July 2013, Maria Luís Albuquerque was First Secretary of State for Treasury and Finance and State Secretary for the Ministry of Finance.

She taught at the University of Lusíada , the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão and the branch of the Universidade Moderna in Setúbal between 1991 and 2006.
