Marie-Louise is a fiction film produced in Switzerland in 1943 by the director Leopold Lindtberg . It is about a French girl who is accepted into a Swiss family as part of the children's aid of the Swiss Red Cross in 1940 during the German advance in France.

Marie-Louise is a French girl who was bombed during World War II. In order to recover from this, she and other children are brought to Switzerland by the Red Cross for six months. But when no foster parents could be found for Marie-Louise, the helper Heidi Rüegg took her to her home. There she slowly befriends the social worker’s father, who was initially dismissive, a factory director. The girl is so frightened by Swiss military aircraft that she has to be taken to hospital. Meanwhile, the workers in Rüegg's factory are trying to bring more French children to Switzerland.

Marie-Louise was shot in 1943 by Leopold Lindtberg for Praesens-Film under Lazar Wechsler and premiered on February 19, 1944. The opening scene, which shows a bombing in Rouen , was shot by Franz Schnyder , but he was not named in the credits.
The screenplay was written by Richard Schweizer , who received the Oscar for best original screenplay in 1946 . The music was composed by Robert Blum , the camera was directed by Emil Berna and the editing was done by Hermann Haller .
Josiane Hegg took over the title role. The helper Heidi Rüegg was played by Anne-Marie Blanc , her father by Heinrich Gretler . Margrit Winter , Armin Schweizer , Mathilde Danegger , Fred Tanner , Emil Gerber , Pauline Carton , Germaine Tournier and Jean Host also played roles .
