Marie Reisenhofer , also Maria Reisenhofer , (born December 31, 1865 in Graz , † April 18, 1947 in Berlin ) was an Austro-German actress .

Life

After taking ballet lessons, she began her artistic career as a trainee in the ballet corps of the Vienna Court Opera House . She received speaking and acting lessons from Carl Arnau and made her debut as an actress at the Hoftheater Hannover at the age of 18 .

This was followed by an engagement in Mainz, and when she was not yet 22 she was on stage for the first time in Berlin at the Deutsches Theater as Klärchen in Egmont . In Berlin she then appeared at various theaters for sixty years, especially the Lessing Theater , the New Theater and the Residenz Theater .

In the twenties, Maria Reisenhofer also took on roles in silent films. She played elegant older women of higher society throughout, mostly in the roles of mothers. In the biography Marie Antoinette - The Life of a Queen (1922) she played the Queen Mother Maria Theresa .
