Life

She received her musical training from the singing teacher Antonio Bagioli in Cesena . Also Gioacchino Rossini was interested in it and studied with her several parts of his operas. At the age of 16 she made her stage debut in Bologna . In 1843 she sang with great success at La Scala in Milan . Performances also took place in other cities in Italy. Later she performed with the impresario Bartolomeo Merelli in Vienna , from there she went on a tour to Saint Petersburg .

For the Carnival of 1847 she appeared in Rome and in the spring of the same year at the Royal Opera House , whereby she was also in comparison with Jenny Lind , who was appearing at Her Majesty's Theater at the same time . From London, she traveled to Paris in October , where she accepted an engagement at the Italian Opera . In 1852 and 1853, she toured America, where she received excellent reviews in North America from Walt Whitman, among others . Presumably Alboni was the first interpreter of La Paloma . In 1854 she married Count Achille Pepoli, then reduced the number of her public appearances and retired from the stage after his death in 1866. In 1877 she married the French officer Charles Dénis Ziégler.
