Mario Gavranović (born November 24, 1989 in Lugano ) is a Swiss football player of Croatian descent. His preferred position is the storm.

Career

Gavranović, whose parents come from Gradačac in Bosnia-Herzegovina , began his career at FC Lugano , with whom he came to his first appearances in the Challenge League at the end of the 2006/07 season . For the 2008/09 season he moved to Yverdon-Sport FC . He left this club after a year and moved to Neuchâtel Xamax on loan .

On February 1, 2010 he signed a contract with FC Schalke 04 until June 30, 2013. Gavranović played his first game for Schalke on April 17, 2010, when he came on as a substitute for the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach at half-time. He scored the first goal in a competitive game for Schalke on January 25, 2011 in the DFB Cup quarter-final against 1. FC Nürnberg .
