Mario Pio Gaspari (born April 8, 1918 in San Felice sul Panaro , Modena Province , † June 23, 1983 ) was a Vatican diplomat .

Life

Mario Pio Gaspari was ordained a priest on July 21, 1940 . At the beginning of October 1968 Mario Pio Gaspari was Deputy Undersecretary of State in the State Secretariat of the Holy See and visited Manlio Giovanni Brosio for pastoral care at the North Atlantic Council in Brussels . He was on June 6, 1973 by Pope Paul VI. Appointed Titular Archbishop of Numida and Apostolic Legate in Mexico. On June 29, 1973, the Pope donated him episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Archbishop Agostino Casaroli and Archbishop Bernardin Gantin , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples . Mario Pio Gaspari was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to Japan on November 16, 1977 . In April 1982 he led the funeral services for the Franciscan missionary in Japan, Zenon Żebrowski .
