Marion Maerz (born August 17, 1943 in Flensburg ; real life Marion Litterscheid ) is a German pop singer .
Life
Marion Maerz went to school in Hanover and trained as a secretary after graduating from high school . In 1964 she was discovered at a Pepsi-Cola talent competition in Hanover . First, she recorded two singles under her real name that were hardly known, including a German version of Twinkle's British hit Terry in 1965 . In the autumn of 1965 Christian Bruhn composed the beat hit He is back for her , which she recorded as “Marion”. The song hit the charts in December 1965 and lasted for several weeks. It is her biggest hit to this day.
In 1966 she applied with Mach not the door to the German Schlager Festival , but did not make it to the final. Even after that, she was unable to build on her initial success. The album Marion Maerz sings Burt Bacharach - page one , with compositions by Burt Bacharach , hardly sold, but is now considered a cult. In 1972 she took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest with the title Hallelujah Man, written by Klaus Doldinger . After she and her then partner Frank Elstner had a daughter Masha (now also a singer) in 1975, Marion Maerz withdrew to a large extent into private life, but until the end of the 1970s she still had various hits and occasionally made it into the charts (Among other things with the duet Schau mal ein with Bernd Clüver , the German version of the hit Stumblin 'In by Suzi Quatro & Chris Norman ). Her best-known solo title from this time is Es war nur der Sommerwind (1978).
Maerz then cultivated her career as an actress on various theater stages. In the early 1990s she also took on some popular titles (including You are the rose from Lake Wörthersee ).
